It's All Greek To Me

In the economic sector, heads are spinning about the latest news coming out of Greece. With the latest news from CNN Money from today, July 6, 2015: "Greece's economic collapse is on par with America's Great Depression. And it's not far off what many European nations saw during WWI and WWII according to research form the Royal Bank of Scotland".

How did things get so messy? Wasn't Greece the poster child for socialism with its high salary paid to unskilled labor and free government handouts? With its seven year downward spiral, it is evident from the fruits of its socio-economic policies that socialism is an economical killer. While there many variables that have led to the current crisis including big government spending, an overly obese social system program, non-capitalistic laws, transfer to the Euro as the monetary unit, rising unemployment rates, and so on, the core issue is excessive spending verses jobs created in the  job sector.

While capitalism has its own problems, at least with free enterprise, jobs can easily be created to stimulate an economy with the concept that profit generated from business pays for these positions. As profit increases, job creation increases. However with a government controlled, anti-profit high tax system, businesses are shot down the minute they try untested, unapproved, or regulated waters. The more the government tries to control private business enterprise, the tighter the noose becomes around the citizens of that country and the overall economic health of that nation.

How has such an ancient culture such as Greece de-evolved economical so rapidly? While even leading economists want to point a finger at one fact or another, the root problem is radical unjustified government spending. And the USA is close behind under the mismanagement of our socialistic inexperienced leader Obama. What can we do as individuals to protect ourselves from this economical train wreck?

Most people job hunting right now are really scared. Their money is drying up and they are becoming increasingly dependent on the government either through the food EBT stamp program, welfare, unemployment, or some other subsidized program. The more a person depends on the government today, the greater their danger of survival is tomorrow. Take steps today to end this and secure your family from what is to come.

Secure food through resources, storage to protect against sudden shortages or escalation in prices

Step One: Learn how to grow food plants and put planters in every window sill or patio of your house or apartment. Start bartering with others to provide a service in exchange for a food supply they might provide: such as weeding for a farmer in exchange for a pound of vegetables or a dozen eggs. Secure this and start using this source now.

Step Two: start buying bulk canned foods with the latest expiration date you can find. Create a food chart of what you eat and how much you eat and project what food supplies you need to survive on for a year. If money is flowing well, now is the time to buy freeze dried survival food that has a shelf life of 20 plus years. Put this in a cellar, a closet, or a secure storage unit where temperatures that don't reach over 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step Three: learn how to hunt. Buy a rifle and learn how to hunt, skin, prepare, and cook deer. Deer are plentiful and one deer could feed a family of four for a whole season if prepared correctly.

Step Four: Join a community garden. This is different from step one because you are working with others at planting at an actual land garden site. Usually people co-plan, co-work, and co-pay seed and fertilizer expenses for these.

Step Five: Stockpile batteries, coffee, water, medical supplies, and related materials that you need for an entire year. Make this into an inventory based system. Know what you have a keep accurate tabs on your supplies and your usage.

Work \while the sun is shining

Step Six: Make every able bodied person get off the couch and do some kind of work. Dog walking, house cleaning, etc. Take any job just to keep money flowing at all times. Constantly improve your work skills, interviewing skills, and resume to be competitive ready in the job market. Work a second or even third job to generate extra money for emergency and future preparedness.

Control the spending

Step Seven: Reduce your spending by 30 percent in 30 days. Try to stop going to movies, sporting events, concerts, etc. that have high price ticket prices. Most experts suggest turning off the cable but as many homes use cable for both security systems, unlimited Wi-Fi and other things, this may not be the best way to cut costs. Most people waste hundreds of dollars a month eating out in restaurants, buying junk food, and paying for live entertainment. Huge sums of money can be saved by reducing in these areas alone.

Step Eight: Never pay retail prices again. Shop online. Shop second hand. Shop sales. Comparative shop from the greatest to the least item needed.

Step Nine: Cut up your credit cards and start following the David Ramsey Financial model or some similar conservative spending, investing, and lifestyle financial system.

Ultimate survival

Take your money out of the bank. Invest in a home safe. Buy gold, silver, real estate, and tangible things. Never trust the electronic money system in times to come. Sure, it is safe to keep a few hundred or thousand (depending on your personal wealth) in the bank to maintain normal living and paying cycles while things remain normal. Manage your own investments: diversify and simplify. A penny in hand in better that two promised for tomorrow.

Take action now to understand what is happening in the world's financial markets. Take steps to protect your family from what is to come. Realize that tomorrow is today. What you do today guarantees your survival tomorrow. Gone are the days where you can procrastinate on taking action.

Such doom and gloom you think? Isn't it better to be safe than sorry?

Probably the most important thing you can do is to try to do these things while maintaining a relatively normal life. Crazy people try to move into the forest and hide. They will be the first ones to die. HIDE IN PLAIN SITE. Maintain your regular work and routine. Don't advertise your survival strategy and you reduce the chance of being ridiculed or targeted. Many are too dumb to do this and they look like they are mentally unstable. A light on a hill is seen. Hiding does nothing but invoke those looking for you to search harder. And when supplies dry up, everyone is going to be looking for help.

Greece is a sunk ship. We are not. And even if we start to sink, we can float and swim because we have planned, prepared, and purposed ourselves for the reality in which we live.

How is it that such multitudes have become such sitting ducks? And how have so many people become dependent on government to supply even their daily food? It's all Greek to me.

But I'm not Greek. I'm a red blooded American. Preparation is the name and survival is the game.

Are you ready to play?
